Nikko Kamen Navi provides many information about Nikko (shops, sights, bus timetables), and receives messages from iBeacons placed around the city.
There are 22 iBeacons placed along the road from Nikko Station to Toushougu and 12 inside nearby shops. By approaching them, this app will reacts and displays its message.
When the app reacts to an iBeacon along the road, it will display its local information. When the app reacts to an iBeacon inside a shop, it will display its shop information.
The 6 notable functions of this app are,
- City Navi (provides city navigation by reacting to iBeacon)
- Shop Navi (provides shop information by reacting to iBeacon)
- Sight Navi (provides tourist site information)
- Bus Navi (provides bus timetable)
- iBeacon Collection (displays collected iBeacons)
- Quiz (provides pop quiz, *only in Japanese)
* City Navi
City Navi provides city navigation by reacting to iBeacons. While this app is onscreen, it will display an information about the location when approaching to any of the 22 iBeacons across the city. When offscreen, the information will appear in the notification bar. The beacon that reacted will be stored in iBeacon Collection. Collecting 22 of these will complete the City Navi beacon collection. The locations of these iBeacons are shown on the map in City Navi screen. Selecting each point will display its local information. Pressing the menu on the left upper corner will display a list of points which correspond to City Navi alongside with pictures. You can locate the point on the map by selecting it from the list.
* Shop Navi
Shop Navi provides shop information by reacting to iBeacons. There are 12 iBeacons inside shops across Nikko city. While the app is onscreen, it will display the shop information. When offscreen, the information will appear in the notification bar. The beacon that reacted will be stored in iBeacon Collection. Collecting 12 of these will complete the Shop Navi beacon collection. The location of these iBeacons are shown on the map in Shop Navi screen. Selecting each point will display its local information. Pressing the menu on the left upper corner will display a list of points which correspond to Shop Navi alongside with pictures. You can locate the point on the map by selecting it from the list.
You can interchange City Navi and Shop Navi by selecting either “City Navi” or “Shop Navi” from the segment controller on the bottom of the screen
* Sight Navi
Sight Navi provides tourist site information. It displays location of Nikko’s famous land marks on the map in Sight Navi screen. Pressing the menu on the left upper corner will display a list of points which correspond to Sight Navi alongside with pictures. You can locate the point on the map by selecting it from the list.
There are no iBeacons that correspond to Sight Navi. You will not receive any messages regarding to Sight Navi from iBeacons.
* Bus Navi
Bus Navi shows the location of bus stops. Pressing the menu on the left upper corner will display a list of bus stops. Selecting from the list will provide its timetable.
The displayed timetable will be that of Toubu Bus Company. There are no iBeacons that correspond to Bus Navi. You will not receive any messages regarding to Bus Navi from iBeacons.
* iBeacon Collection
iBeacon Collection lists beacons that you achieved on City Navi and Shop Navi. Pressing the achieved beacon will display the same information as when encountered. There are 22 beacons for City Navi and 12 for Shop Navi.
Note
- You need to turn on Bluetooth in order to receive data from iBeacon
- If you want to re-receive iBeacons again, deleting iBeacon list (all received iBeacons will be lost) at the “i”menu in top screen enables you to receive from iBeacons again.
* Please be aware of continuous usage of GPS while offscreen will significantly drain battery life!
